I did order a 3080, but I've been waiting for it for months now. I have been playing at 4K with my 1080 Ti card for several years and it's been extremely beautiful in many cases. This means you can play games at 4k resolution when you want a visually prettier experience and go down to 1440p when the frames matter. Both brands' graphics cards now do integer scaling when playing at lower resolutions - this makes the image scale extremely nicely, unlike the EXTREMELY muddy scaling we had until maybe a year ago: There is also no downside to using 4k monitors anymore. The issue is that curving a panel causes an increase in dead pixels, lower lifespan on the panel, as well as backlight bleed in the top and bottom.

My issues with light curves aren't in the curve itself - I don't do professional work on the monitor either. I'm currently waiting for 32 inch 4k 120 hz IPS monitors to come out, no curve. They had some issues with gsync flickering at launch, but those have been largely fixed. The G9 is an ultrawide equivalent where the curve is much less of a problem, but the price very much is! If the curve doesn't bother you though, the G7 is fantastic. So walking left in ul'dah meant I was going uphill while the landscape behind me was a downward slope. The problem in third person titles is that it gives you a reverse fisheye effect. Otherwise it was A+++ tier and for first person shooters it was absolutely awesome. Just sharing that you probably own/seen a curved monitor I'm assuming, but if you haven't, then yeah just wanted to share my experience on it.Īs for 4K, I'd say, nah, don't go for 4K I mean unless you're going for the new RTX 30 series cards, which I'm pretty sure you are. It's hard to describe but it has to do with how the eyes adjust to the curve of the monitor, it's actually a plus, not a negative.

Scientifically your eyes cannot catch the light coming off of super wide screens without forcing some kind of curve on them, unless you sit farther, but then you lose that PC monitor immersion if you start sitting too far. I have a 32 inch curved monitor and I really suggest not being opposed to curved monitors, specially when you get to the 32inch range or higher. Wow the specs on that monitor are insane!!
